Taxi and minicab licences

The Private Hire and Hackney Carriage trade or the Taxi trade as it is more commonly known, is licensed and regulated by Sandwell's Licensing Office.

When going through the application process it should be noted that first time applicants will be subject to a Criminal History check. Renewal applicants will be required to take a Criminal History check every three years. The Disclosure and Barring Service website has information related to this check. The document "An Applicant's Guide to completing the Disclosure and Barring Service application form" will provide guidance on this process.

The policy report and documents outlining the proposed changes are available for download here.
