Sandwell Council

Investing in businesses, people and jobs

An apprentice working in the construction industry

Good jobs create wealth and tackle poverty. Sandwell has a proud record of innovation, hard work and manufacturing. We have identified three key industrial sectors to help the borough thrive: advanced manufacturing, business services and 'green' industries, including high-tech waste and recycling industries. These should grow and create jobs in the future.

The council wants to back companies already in Sandwell, regardless of their business type, and attract new ones. To make investing as easy as possible, the council will give advice and support to boost enterprise and will work with businesses to find suitable land and premises, to secure planning permission and to recruit employees with the right skills.

We run a number of initiatives to help businesses, including:

  • environmental advice on improving efficiency and reducing costs
  • finditinsandwell for business development and networking
  • the Sandwell Business Loan Fund
  • help for business start-ups
  • site development with private sector partners
  • apprenticeships and training opportunities.
