Cleaner streets, more recycling and safer neighbourhoods
Sandwell people tell us clean streets and safer neighbourhoods are things that matter most to their quality of life. This means encouraging pride in local areas by maintaining our streets and roads well, clearing them of rubbish and continuing the fight against anti-social behaviour.
Our new waste improvement partnership with Serco is the council's single biggest 'green' initiative, to improve street cleaning, recycling and rubbish collections. Serco will match up rubbish collections with street cleaning schedules so litter isn't left lying around. They will also expand the range of materials we collect for recycling - to take in plastic, cartons and cardboard - and the number of homes we collect from. We will keep weekly collections of household waste, fortnightly collections of garden waste and introduce new weekly food waste collections.
What will we do?

We have clear plans for the future in this area. Our aim is to continue to develop the things that we do on your behalf so that you, as residents, feel the benefit. Find out more about what we will do.
