Oak House

Oak House in West Bromwich is a delightful half timbered yeoman's house built between 1590 and 1630.

The Oak House Museum is a furnished Yeoman farmer's house built around 400 years ago and set in its own grounds.

It is free to visit the Oak House in West Bromwich - however unfortunately there is currently no disabled access to the first floor.

Please note that we are not able to allow pushchairs into the building on event days. Guide dogs are welcomed.

The Oak House is located on the corner of Oak Road and Cambridge Street just a short distance from West Bromwich High Street and Lodge Road Metro station. There is a public car park at the bottom of Oak Road about a five minute walk away or parking is available on the road near to the house. Parking on site for disabled visitors is available.

Opening Times

Please note that these are times when we are open to casual visitors. We are still available for special events and activities, school bookings, tours, projects etc at other times.

Easter or the beginning of April to September

Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday: 2pm - 5pm

Last admission to the museum is 4.30pm

October and November:

Tuesday and Wednesday: 1pm - 4pm 

Last admission is 4pm.

December - Easter:

closed apart from special events and activities, schools and pre-booked groups. Look out for our lively Christmas programme and school holiday activities.

Other information for visitors

  • Entrance to Oak House is usually free, but there is sometimes a small charge for special events and activities.
  • Opening times may vary for special events, please ring site for details.
  • Please note that there are no refreshments available on site apart from for some special events.
  • There is currently no disabled access to the first floor.
  • We are unable to accommodate pushchairs inside the building.
  • Suitable footwear must be worn - due to the age of the flooring we cannot allow stiletto heels to be worn inside the building.

Souvenirs

Visit our small souvenir shop on the first floor, where there are a wide range of items including greetings cards, local history publications, gifts and toys. Just ask a member of staff to open the shop with no obligation to make a purchase.
