Admissions to secondary schools
As your child is about to transfer to Secondary School it is important that you have clear, up-to-date information about the schools available to you in Sandwell.
A booklet has been prepared to answer some of the questions you may have and help you understand the way admissions work. As well as this booklet each school also produces its own prospectus which is available free of charge from the school. You can view details about individual schools on our Secondary Schools in Sandwell area of this website, these pages include links to school websites. You can also look at OFSTED reports and schools attainment and performance details. You will then be able to make an informed judgment about which school you would like your child to attend. Sandwell public library will be pleased to help you. You may also apply online at some of our schools. These are marked later in the booklet. Access Service will be happy to assist you.
Head Teachers will be pleased to arrange visits for you to help you to decide the school you would like your child to attend and parents are encouraged to do this.
This year we will again, be "co-ordinating" admissions with neighbouring Local Authorities. This is explained in detail later in the booklet. You should have already received a leaflet about this last term.
