RSPB Sandwell Valley
The RSPB site is based around part of Forge Mill Lake within Sandwell Valley Country Park. It has a small car park, a network of footpaths, a bird hide and a viewing screen. A fire in 2010 damaged the visitor centre and current facilities are very limited. Further information is available from the RSPB webiste.
Wildlife on Site
Summer breeding birds around the marsh, lake and grassland, ranging from waders to ducks and song birds, such as whitethroat. There are also important numbers of wetland birds during the winter, many of which are migrants, including Goosander.
To become involved in looking after the site there are a range of opportunities, including helping in the Visitors Centre and carrying out practical work on the reserve. To find out more contact the RSPB on 0121 357 7395
Location
RSPB Nature Reserve is on 20 Tanhouse Avenue, Great Barr, West Bromwich. It can also be reached by walking from Forge Mill Farm, Forge Lane, Sandwell Valley Country Park.
Parking
There is a small car park off Tanhouse Avenue as well as next to the original visitor centre.

Much of the site is wheelchair accessible with assistance.
Opening
The reserve is open at all times. The car park and hide open 10.30am -lunchtime Tuesday to Friday, 10.00 am - 3.30pm at weekends, subject to staff availability. Please call 0121 357 9357 for details of special events throughout the year.
