Local nature reserves

Sandwell has nine local nature reserves which range from very small to very large, and support a wide range of wildlife.

Why are they important?

There is often pressure on land, either for housing or industry, which is why it is important that some areas are protected to ensure they are never developed. Nature reserves provide a valuable place where wildlife can live, often alongside people, without fear of their habitats being destroyed.
