JOIN SIX TOWNS CHALLENGE THIS AUGUST

Intrepid runners and walkers are being urged to put their best feet forward and sign up for Sandwell’s popular Six Towns Challenge.

- Cost: £6 pre-book/£7 on the day
Sandwell Council and Sandwell Ramblers are organising the challenge which takes
in all six towns on 14, 18 and 26-mile routes around the borough.
The
event is on Sunday August 28 and starts from the Dartmouth Park Pavillion with
routes taking walkers and runners along the borough’s footpaths and canal
towpaths.
Mytime Active, which promotes health and well-being within
the borough with its Sandwell Stride programme of guided walks, is also involved
in the event.
Walkers and runners on the 26 mile route will take in the
world famous 1.7 mile (3027 yards) unlit Netherton Tunnel and will need to
bring their own torches.
- 26-mile run/walk starts at 8.30am (registration at 7.30am)
- 18-mile run/walk starts at 9.30am (registration at 8.35am)
- 14-mile run/walk starts at 10am (registration at 9.30am)
For those who prefer gentler exercise there is five-mile guided walk around
Sandwell Valley which starts at 11am from Dartmouth Park after the distance
walkers have set out. There is no charge for this walk and no pre-booking, so
just turn up at 10.30am to register and join an experienced Walk Leader and team
to explore the hidden delights of Sandwell Vallley.
Entry fees for the
distance walkers and runners are £6 for those who pre-book and £7 pay on the
