Hateley Heath lies in the West Bromwich town of Sandwell, with a population of 15,121. The ward is represented by 3 members of the council. West Bromwich town also consists of Charlemont with Grove Vale, Great Barr with Yew Tree, Greets Green and Lyng, Newton and West Bromwich Central.

Hateley Heath is home to Bromwich Hall – Manor House Museum, a timber-framed Medieval building that is now a Heritage Visitor Centre. The Hall was built in the 1270s and since then the building has been home to a number of historically significant residents.
